The content of La Botella as part of scientific research

The Norwegian scientist, Ph.D. Marit Brendbekken (Social Anthropology) surveyed in the period 1990 -1997 in the border area of the Dominican Republic and Haiti in person in a 2-year field work more than 250 families about the medicinal plants of the Dominican Republic and their use. In the remote regions of our small island plants still play a major role. Many tend to trust a person (healer) who administered to her a plant and herbal medicine more as an injection of a respected doctor in Santo Domingo.

In the development of her 1998 book, "Hablando con la mata" (translated: in conversation with the "fruit-tree")  http://www.libroslatinos.com/cgi-bin/libros/54665.html among other prestigious and renowned persons were involved as follows:

Dr. Carles Roersch - General Koordinador Institute of the Dominican Medicine,

Office of the Botanical Garden in Santo Domingo Rafael M. Moscoso represented by Dipl. Jesus Maria Gonzales and Mr. Francisco Jimenez for the scientific identification of the plants were responsible

Dr. Med. Francisco Ramos and Dipl. Alvarez Arismendi as advisory support of the carried out interviews from Marit Brendbekken.

The above-mentioned book, "Hablando con la mata"describes the daily important role of the usage of the Dominican plants and herbs in accordance with residents. It is (or should) serve as a basis for further discussion and research for doctors, pharmacists, nurses, healers and herbalists.

This book is the doctoral thesis of Marit Brendbekken.

La Botella - integrates the knowledge of centuries of medicinal plants and their effect!

In this book describes Marit Brendbekken as they took part (among others activities) of making "La Botella", even gathering the plants and herbs with the producer and received from him the information which plants can be used against which disease, (sometimes in connection with the use of other plants like in La Botella) and compiled this information in her book. There is a section in the book where you will find a alphabetical listing from 170 of the 250 local plants and herbs used by the manufacturer.  Like mentioned before, this informations (scientific identification) were controled by the Office of the Botanical Garden in Santo Domingo Rafael M. Moscoso represented by Dipl. Jesus Maria Gonzales and Mr. Francisco Jimenez.

In details specified and described are there the local custom and the scientific name, the look of the plants - the trees or the herbs, their specific properties and for or against something to use them. Many of these plants are endemic, meaning they are found only here in the Dominican Republic. This book is a treasure for many herbal experts.

Detailed surveys, which could last from 2 to 6 hours, the author interviewed scientists, research associates, physicians also to healers, farmers, herbalists and market women.

In her conclusion shows Marit Brendbekken that the traditional Dominican medicine - which includes "La Botella" as one of them - concepts and practices related to Voodoo (Haiti) and the African medicine and the humoral theory of bodily fluids and the Spanish traditional medicine based. These include those specified Medical Plants in her book - experience accumulated over centuries by the Taino (indigenous people of the Dominican Republic), Spanish conquerors, African slaves and others ...

This book is in my posession, in Spanish language!!!

Some of the plants are used in La Botella

Just to help you understand why I sometimes still hear that La Botella a "high price" is.

La Botella has an extremely high success rate that you are pregnant in the next few months. This can be read in the forum for users since 2008.

We still have a very rich variety of plants, but many for La Botella needed plants are not growing on every corner. Some plants are found only in the south, others in the mountains, and there are even plants (such as the scientist describes in her book) the place where it grow really knows only one person, even in the botanical garden is no information about it!

Also, the researcher describes in her statement that La Botella is prepared by experts. These are the experiences that have been passed down through generations - the first recipes date from the 15th Century - the Time of the Conqueror.

But anyway ... La Botella is worth the money - and you'll confirm it when you will see the for the first time the smile from your Baby.
